Frequently asked questions
What do I need for an energy review?
Your latest energy bill and a recent meter reading are a good place to start. Make a note of the date you took the reading too. If we need anything else to understand your energy, we’ll let you know.
Have them ready? My energy bill seems too high. Can you check it?
Yes. We can compare what you’ve been charged with your meter readings and energy information to see whether anything needs a closer look. We can also look beyond the bill to understand what may be driving your costs and where you could save.
What if there’s nothing wrong with my bill?
A correct bill doesn’t necessarily mean there’s nothing more to find. We can look at your energy use, tariff and other available options to see whether there are opportunities to reduce your costs.
Do I need a smart meter?
No. You can take a meter reading yourself. We’ll tell you what information we need and can help if you’re unsure how to read your meter.
Do I have to switch energy supplier?
No. We can help you understand the options available and what they could mean for you. Whether you stay with your current supplier or switch is your decision.
Can you help if my supplier has billed me incorrectly?
Yes. If we identify a potential billing issue, we’ll explain what we’ve found and what needs to happen next. Where appropriate, we can also support you in getting the issue resolved.
Can you help me find a better energy tariff?
Yes. We can assess suitable tariff or contract options using your energy needs and consumption rather than looking at price alone.
For businesses, landlords and property managers, we can also support utility procurement across your supplies.
Can LEAD help with more than one property?
Yes. We work with landlords and property managers who need support managing energy across multiple properties, including billing, metering, tariffs, procurement and utility cost forecasting.
Do you work with businesses?
Yes. We support businesses with billing and metering, energy procurement, energy audits and ongoing energy management to help reduce costs and improve energy efficiency.
Is the energy review really free?
Yes. Your initial energy review is free. We’ll explain what we find and whether there are any next steps worth considering. If you need additional paid support, we’ll explain the service and cost before you decide whether to proceed.
